- Group small jobs on one quote, each on its own line, so the client can pick what they want done.
- Say whether you charge per job or per hour, and your minimum charge if you have one.
- Keep materials on their own line so the client sees what's labour.
- Send it the same day: for small jobs, clients usually go with whoever quotes first.
What a full tax invoice shows
- The words "Tax Invoice", and your business name, address and VAT number.
- The client's name and address, and their VAT number if they're VAT registered.
- A unique invoice number, the date, and a description and quantity of the work.
- The amount before VAT, the VAT, and the total. Not VAT registered? Call it an "Invoice" and leave VAT off.
